What is an American?

The millions of people migrate into United States of American in order to achieve their dream and earn the name of an American. Many people leave their homeland to start a new life. When people come to United States, they have American dream. They dream of a glamorous life such as have great and big house. According to what is an American of de Crevecouer, He was an Englishman and also migrated to America from England. When he came to the United States, there was no principle for whom they toil, starve, and bleed. The America was opportunity to them

 

Many people come to America for their own reasons as a Crevecouer, mostly for a better life. In Europe, they didn’t have fertile ground to grow grains and fruit. So, some people had to starve and poor. However, in the America, they have good grounds to grow any kinds of grains and fruits. America was a great country to people.

 

Who is a real American? Long time ago, many European people came to America. Also, other countries people came to achieve their dream. Who is real American is not so important in this country. The United States is filled with many types of Americans that do not necessarily have to be from the United States of America.

 

Manu people that come from foreign location sacrifice many things in order to become an America. According to a book, Of Battles & Angels by Mawi, that author was lived in Sudan. At that time, there was big civil war between Ethiopia and Eritrea. His family was having difficult time in their own country. Then, they decided to migrate to United States from Africa. And, now He is an American. Therefore, anyone can be an American even they are from another country.

 

There are many reasons why immigrants want to immigrate to America. For example, in de Crevecoeur’s writing of “What is an American?”, he says that a man’s “country is now that which gives him land, bread, protection, and consequence”. This shows that the citizens should not be the ones protecting the country at all times but, the country should citizen is obligated to protect his country. Everyone that lives in America will feel like their lives have been completed if they become true Americans.

 

I think the true American is not only born in the United States. Even though, people ate from other countries, if they ate satisfied their life in U.S., they ate the true American. I also migrated to United States from Korea. I am so proud of I am in America and glad to experience another culture. And I hope I achieve my goals and get the opportunity in the United States. That is why I migrate to America.
